Gernot Jöbstl wurde 1982 in Wolfsberg/Kärnten geboren. Sein Studium absolvierte er bei Prof. Klaus Lienbacher an der Universität für Musik und darstellende Kunst Wien. Während seiner Studienzeit war er Stipendiat des Herbert von Karajan Centrums Wien und der Tokyo Foundation.
Numerous chamber music concerts and concert tours in Germany and abroad have led him, among others. to Japan, Argentina and Finland. As a substitute, he played with the Lower Austrian Tonkünstler, the Vienna Symphony Orchestra, the Vienna State Opera and the Vienna Philharmonic.
From 2006 to 2009 he was the first oboist at the Vienna Volksoper.
Since 2010 Gernot Jöbstl has been 2nd oboist and English horn player in the ORF Radio Symphony Orchestra Vienna.
