Scott Lygate

Clarinetist and composer, was born in Ayrshire, Scotland in 1989. He studied clarinet at the Royal Academy of Music in London and privately with many of the top clarinetists in the world such as: Charles Neidich in New York, Alessandro Carbonare in Rome and Wenzel Fuchs in Berlin, and also recently completed his master's degree at KUG, Performance Practice in Contemporary Music, under the leadership of Klangforum Wien, also received and studied with Stefan Neubauer at the MDW. Lygate has played with many UK orchestras including 'The London Philharmonic Orchestra', 'The BBC Symphony Orchestra', 'The Philharmonia' and others. He mainly deals with new music and regularly plays with the ´London Sinfonietta´, ´PHACE´, ´Klangforum Wien´, ´Schallfeld´ etc. and has worked with many composers on new pieces. He also focuses on the double bass clarinet and has often played as a soloist. With his own ensemble "Azelea" in London, he released several CDs with the labels "Nonclassical" and "NMC", and regularly records new recordings at Angel Studios in London. Lygate also plays regularly in London - Film Music Sessions, and has appeared in various films, most recently in Mary Magdalene, Adrift and Alien Encounters. As a composer, he recently had his Chamber Symphony premiered in London with the Riot Ensemble. He will have more concerts in the next few months with ´The BBC Scottish Symphony´, ´London Sinfonietta´ and ´PHACE'. Lygate has been a member of ensemble XX. jahrhundert since June 2018.
