Thomas Frey

Thomas Frey completed his flute studies at the Bruckner Conservatory Linz (Anton Bruckner Private University) with Norbert Girlinger with a final diploma in 2003 (distinction). Then he deepened his studies with Wolfgang Schulz.

Furthermore Thomas Frey attended courses with Robert Aitken, Walter Auer, Pierre-Yves Artaud, Erwin Klambauer, Ernst Kovacic, Matthias Ziegler and took part in the International Ensemble Modern Akademie 2004 (Klangspuren Schwaz).

In particular, dealing with contemporary chamber music led Thomas Frey to festivals such as the Bregenz Festival, Vienna Modern, the Carinthian Summer, and quantum leaps at the Center for Art and Media Technology (ZKM) Karlsruhe, soundings at ACF London and Computing Music Cologne.

He is a regular guest musician at the Klangforum Wien and has been able to work on projects on the occasion of the Salzburg Festival, the Darmstadt holiday courses, the Ruhrtriennale, the Biennale di Venezia, Wien Modern, Sacrum Profanum Krakow, Contemporary Music Festival Teatro Colon (Buenos Aires), arcus temporum Pannonhalma and the Festival Territory Moscow. Thomas Frey was a member of the Vienna Art Orchestra from 2009.
